How to Get Rid of Love Handles Fast
Want to get rid of love handles fast? Most people who have love handles keep them for life. But you won’t – If
you follow the advice in this article. This article won’t go into any quick fix diet pills or any “magic workout
DVDs.”
Instead, you’ll learn a no-nonsense approach that just plain works for getting rid of love handles. Thousands
all around the world who have had love handles have successfully lost them. You can join their ranks; though it
will take some work up front.
Here’s how to get rid of your love handles quickly.
The Secret: Reducing Overall Body Fat
If you do a search on Google, you’ll find many sites that teach you specific exercises to target the external
obliques and stomach areas. I’m here to tell you that doesn’t work.
When you exercise a specific area of the body, you create miniature muscle tears in the tissue. The body then
repairs that tissue, creating stronger tissue in its place. This is the process for building muscle.
If you’re building muscle with fat overlaid on top of it, you won’t be able to see any of the muscle you’re
building at all. In other words, if you work out the areas that have love handles, you’ll just build muscle
underneath the fat without actually burning the fat.
To get rid of love handles, you need to burn the fat. Unfortunately, you can’t selectively burn fat, you have to
burn fat throughout your whole body at once.
Consistency is the Key
The key to burning fat is consistency. You cannot, cannot possibly burn enough fat in one day, or even in a week
to get lasting results.
It’s much better to take a 30 minute walk 5 days a week consistently than to work out 1 or 2 days a week
intensely.
Create a workout schedule that you can consistently stick to. It helps a lot if you can find a workout routine
that you’re actually passionate about. That way you’ll look forward to your workouts, instead of dreading them.
Your workouts should be aerobic in nature rather than anaerobic in nature. In other words, you should choose
exercises like running or swimming, rather than weight lifting. Aerobic exercises aim to improve cardiovascular
health and burn calories, while anaerobic exercises aim to build muscles.
Your Diet Will Determine Your Results
In addition to working out to burn body fat, you also have to make some changes to your diet to make sure you’re
not bringing more body fat in.
First, cut out all excess calories. That means cutting out soda, candies, chips, sweets, chocolate, et cetera.
You should also cut out excessively fat foods like pizza, TV dinners and deep fried foods.
Many of these foods have addictive qualities. Quitting soda for example, isn’t nearly as easy as it sounds if
you’ve been drinking it your whole life.
Instead of quitting “cold turkey,” it helps a lot to enlist the help of a friend. Take it as a challenge, with
the 30 day mark as the goal. Steven Covey, author of “7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” found that if you could
keep new habits for 30 days, you can generally keep them for life.
Aim to eat healthy for 30 days. Cut out foods that are high in fat or empty calories. Most people who develop
love handles eat well over the recommended 2,000 calories a day. If you can get your caloric intake to 2,000 a day
while increasing your exercise, you’ll be well on your way towards burning off those love handles.
The Last Resort: Liposuction?
If you really want to get rid of your love handles quickly, the final resort if all else fails is
liposuction.
While liposuction can be extremely effective, it also has many downsides. First of all, like any other surgery,
it can be dangerous and complications could arise. It’s also quite a costly operation.
Liposuction patients also often have self-esteem issues after surgery. Instead of the boost of self-esteem
people generally feel after losing weight, patients who get liposuction often feel that they cheated or that
they’re still “fat underneath.”
Getting liposuction can work, but should really be used as a last resort. Start first by improving your diet and
burning calories. If you really take on calorie cutting and exercise seriously, there is absolutely no reason you
couldn’t lose your love handles quickly.
In summary, losing love handles means burning body fat in general, rather than specific targeting. Burn body fat
by first eliminating all junk foods and high calorie foods, then developing a consistent workout plan that you can
stick to. Feel free to amp it up if you want to lose love handles faster, but remember not to burn yourself out.
Consistency is the key, not bursts of exercise.
